- Three people, including a child, were killed in a shooting Thursday that occurred inside a Publix grocery store in Royal Palm Beach, Florida.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office tweeted, "Upon arrival, deputies discovered three victims deceased from gunshot wounds, one adult man, one adult female, and one youngster". Their identities have not been disclosed. The shooter is also deceased, PBSO said. She did not say whether it was the man or the woman who did the shooting, but said the shooter was among the three dead.

Deputies told Scripps station WPTV, the shooting at the store at the corner of Royal Palm Beach Boulevard happened just after 11:30 a.m. ET.

"This was NOT an active shooter situation", the sheriff's office said.

A sheriff's office helicopter hovered in the air above the store, and a Palm Beach County Fire Rescue vehicle was at the scene.

Law enforcement officials were checking license tags on cars in the parking lot.

A detective from the Violence and Crime Division interviewed witnesses on the scene, watched camera footage, and began investigating what led to the shooting.

In a statement obtained by WKMG-TV, a spokesperson for the large grocery store chain said, "Our thoughts are with those who are impacted by this tragedy".
