"We are reaching out to let you know that we removed content from Lara Trump's Facebook page that featured President Trump speaking", the email she posted stated.

Eric Trump, the President's son and Lara's husband, posted Facebook's warning message publicly, calling it a "slap in the face to 75 million Americans".

"Content posted on Facebook and Instagram in the voice of President Trump is not now allowed on our platforms (including new posts with President Trump speaking) and will be removed if posted, resulting in additional limitations on accounts that posted it".

She was apparently swiftly cautioned by Facebook that anything posted "in the voice of President Trump" is not now allowed on Facebook or Instagram and would be subject to removal.

According to a second message from Facebook, "content posted on Facebook and Instagram in the voice of President Trump is not now allowed".

The question of whether Donald Trump will ever be allowed back on Facebook or Instagram is to be decided by the company's Oversight Board.

"The guidance applies to all campaign accounts and pages, including Team Trump, other campaign messaging vehicles on our platforms and former surrogates", Facebook wrote.

Meanwhile, President Trump has hinted at the release of a new social media platform in the coming months.

Trump was barred by several social media platforms after the riot, including Twitter Inc, which has said its ban is permanent, and Alphabet Inc's YouTube, which said it will reinstate his account when the risk of violence decreases.

Former President Donald Trump and former first lady Melania are launching a new website.
