Kamala Harris's Step-Daughter gets signed by modeling agency

Vice President Kamala Harris' stepdaughter Ella Emhoff, whose fashion choices went viral during last week's USA presidential inauguration, has signed with a major modeling agency.

Now, The New York Times reported on Thursday that she has recently signed with modeling agency IMG.

The news of her joined the IMG Models comes shortly after she was seen looking stylish during the Presidential Inauguration of 2021. "There are a cheekiness and a joy she exudes".

The 21-year-old Parsons School of Design student, who is now studying fine arts with a focus on textiles, inked a modeling contract with the prestigious IMG Models, People reported Thursday (January 28). However, he added that talks about signing her started early in the summer, long before the election season. Emhoff told The Times that she's excited to use her new platform to "share a lot of things I really care about, and do some good".

Emhoff now joins Gorman at IMG, the young poet who also caught viewers' attention at President Biden's inauguration.

Emhoff said she was surprised they reached out to her because she never thought of modeling as part of her plan. She was also motivated by the idea that she could be part of that change.

He shared, "What she wore and who she was that day was in line with the person I met..."

For the historic event, she turned to celebrity stylists Jill Lincoln and Jordan Johnson, who have worked with such stars as Jennifer Lawrence, Rachel Brosnahan, Margaret Qualley and Kiernan Shipka.

Emhoff went viral online with her head-turning outfit and playful performance, as her stepmother and President Joe Biden were sworn in. "In the short time that we have been acquainted, our takeaway is that it would be a disservice to the world for her to not show everyone what she is capable of inclusive of and beyond fashion".

"It's not really about shape, size or gender any more", he told The Times. "But I don't think anyone expected the kerfuffle it caused on the internet". As previously announced, poet Amanda Gorman also inked a contract with IMG Models. It seems the modelling industry is ready for the shakeup.
