BMW M5 CS revealed

The new BMW M5 CS is an exclusive four-seater special-edition model and is said to be the most powerful vehicle in the company's M series history.

German automobile giant BMW introduced the 2022 BMW M5 C5 sedan, which they call the fastest BMW to date.

Plenty of extra M5 CS bits in the cabin. The 20 inch M forged wheels in Y-spoke design, the M5 CS badges, M gills on the front wing and the boot lid are all enhanced with Gold Bronze.

So, what do we know about the Euro-spec model?

Inside, the centre rear seat has been removed, while a pair of front carbon-fibre bucket seats borrowed from the latest M3 and M4 feature - units likely lighter than the "standard" M5 Competition's more comfort-oriented seats. The centre marker perforation with red background on the M Alcantara steering wheel is a classical racing auto touch while the gearshift paddles are made from carbon fibre and the steering wheel spokes have Black Chrome trim.

BMW claims a 0-100km/h sprint time of 3.0 seconds, towards a top speed of 305km/h - down 0.3 seconds, but identical in top speed to the Competition.

Under the skin, BMW doesn't do much to the already superb M5 chassis.

The 635hp 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 is 10hp more powerful than the M5 Competition - and 0-62mph in just 3.0 seconds makes it 0.3 seconds faster than the vehicle it's based on.

Engineers have worked on the M5 CS suspension's "bearing springs" and damper tuning to complement increased grip from the 20-inch Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres that measure 275mm wide up front and 285mm wide out back.

Since the CS is based on the M5 Competition, it features stiffer engine mounts, firmer springs, a beefier anti-roll bar and a lower ride height than the standard M5. Carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) is employed for the construction of the M5 CS bonnet, front splitter, exterior mirror covers, rear spoiler and diffuser, engine compartment cover as well as intake silencer. The L-shaped light tubes of the laser headlamps, meanwhile, illuminate yellow rather than white when low beam, high beam or the welcome light is activated. The interior features fine-grain Merino leather on the front seats and Merino leather counterparts at the rear seats, illuminated M5 logos on the front seats, Alcantara steering wheel and headliners and contrasting panels in Mugello Red. Standard specification for the M5 CS includes its stainless-steel sports exhaust system with four unadorned tailpipes and the M Carbon ceramic brakes, whose callipers are painted in Red as standard or Gold as an option. A light fixed cover on the center console replaces the usual armrest with an opening cover.

BMW has said nothing about the price of the M5 CS, but, considering that the M5 Competition costs 151,100 euros, it is assumed that the new special and limited edition model will exceed that price and it may approach 200,000. euros.
