Last week, California State Epidemiologist Dr Erica Pan called for pausing administration of Moderna's coronavirus vaccine due to a higher-than-usual number of severe allergic reactions.
The state of California has given county health officials the go-ahead to continue distribution of a batch of Moderna COVID-19 vaccinations that had been potentially linked to a cluster of adverse reactions in San Diego, saying the findings of a state investigation should "give Californians confidence that the vaccines are safe and effective".
State health officials in OR recommend that local vaccination sites continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines from Moderna Lot 041L20A, after they received advice from federal officials to continue to dispense the doses. In Oregon, health experts are investigating two "adverse events" at different sites that were associated with the same Moderna lot, but anyone who experienced a reaction to the vaccine has since recovered.
The previously suspect lot, Moderna 041L20A, represented a week's worth of doses for the state.
Now, she says, that lot of doses may be used.
Shakib with 4 for 8 bowls out Windies for 122
In his first worldwide match after a one-year ban, Shakib picked up 4-8 as Bangladesh bowled out West Indies for 122 in 32.2 over. Mayers was eighth out in the 31st over, caught at first slip edging a prod at off-spinner Mehidy Hasan.
At its peak, California receives about 400,000 to 500,000 doses a week but the rollout to administer the vaccine to patients has been slow and could take about four to five months for those 65 and older, Pan said during a state vaccine advisory committee meeting, according to the Sacramento Bee. "As a result, 1,900 doses of the Moderna Covid-19 Vaccine stored in the freezer were compromised", Kyle Toto, the public affairs specialist at VA Boston Healthcare System, said in a statement Thursday.
The six cases of adverse reaction at the Petco Park vaccination site reportedly occurred within 24 hours and required medical care.
Moderna said the lot contained 1,272,200 doses and that about 1 million doses have been distributed to 1,700 vaccination sites in 37 states.
The CDPH said about 330,000 doses from that lot went to 287 providers across the state after being shipped January 5-12.
OR officials said that there were six allergic reactions at a single site in California, which prompted the state's response. Officials are pinning hopes on President Biden's promise to ramp up vaccination resources to get as many people vaccinated as soon as possible.
