Mads Mikkelsen replaces Johnny Depp for third 'Fantastic Beasts' movie

Johnny Depp quit the film after being asked to resign by Warner Bros.

Production on Fantastic Beasts 3 has been taking place in the United Kingdom, with Eddie Redmayne starring as Newt Scamander and Jude Law as Albus Dumbledore.

Fantastic Beasts 3 is set to hit theaters on July 15, 2022.

Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen poses as he arrives for the closing ceremony of the 68th Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, southeastern France, on May 24, 2015. It has been rescheduled for a July 2022 release, postponed from the original November 2021 plan.

Fans of the movie were unpleasantly surprised when it was announced that Johnny Depp would officially be exiting the Fantastic Beasts franchise in response to losing his libel case.

Apple Watch, MacBook tipped for big redesigns in late 2021
Given that sort of demand would skew to the more expensive models in the line-up, that's arguably how Apple would prefer it to go. While Apple hasn't stinted on internal upgrades, it's fair to say that its aesthetic has been fairly consistent in recent years.

As confirmed by Warner Bros. themselves, Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen will indeed be the one replacing Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts 3. The news comes less than a week after Mikkelsen responded to reports of his casting saying, "that is on the rumour basis".

Now, I don't know about you but in my view, this particular image shows a little bit of symbolism and it seems like this is Depp's way of firing back at his detractors who are hell-bent on ruining his legacy.

Mikkelsen is no stranger to evil magic users, having previously played supervillain sorcerer Kaecilius in Doctor Strange. "So, I'm waiting for that phone call". He also played Dr. Hannibal Lecter in the television series Hannibal. Lurid personal details were revealed during the course of the case, which Depp brought against a British tabloid that labeled him a "wife beater" in a 2018 article.

He added of his legal judgement, "The surreal judgement of the court in the United Kingdom will not change my fight to tell the truth and I confirm that I plan to appeal".
