Wipeout Contestant Passes Away Following Taping - Full Details

A Wipeout contestant has died after going into cardiac arrest once he completed the course.

The on-site personnel then called paramedics, who rushed the man to the hospital, where he later died. It's understood that filming will recommence at some point after the break.

Speaking to the New York Post, a spokesperson for the TBS network sent their condolences to the contestant's family. The set has two paramedics, a safety producer and a paramedic coordinator. News on Friday, Nov. 20, which read, "We are devastated to have learned of his passing and our deepest sympathy goes out to the family".

Sources close to the production reportedly told the publication that Wipeout contestants have to undergo a medical examination before participating in the show.

According to a description of the reimagined series, TBS' Wipeout promises to push contestants' "athleticism and willpower to even greater extremes" as they take on a three-stage obstacle course "designed to further challenge, and wear out, the stamina of the competitors".
