Photos show unmasked Gavin Newsom attending French Laundry dinner

But photos from the mask-less French Laundry dinner show Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom seated next to Norman.

CEO Dustin Corcoran and top CMA lobbyist Janus Norman both joined the dinner at the French Laundry, an elite Napa fine dining restaurant, to celebrate the 50th birthday of lobbyist and longtime Newsom adviser Jason Kinney, a representative of the powerful interest group confirmed this morning.

The photos, obtained by Fox 11 Los Angeles and shared on Twitter by reporter Bill Melugin, were circulated widely online on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for the CMA, Anthony York, said in a statement that "the dinner was held in accordance with state and county guidelines". "It got louder and louder and so they had some sliding glass doors that they were able to close, so then it was a closed-off room, but you could still hear them with how loud they were". Newsom acknowledged that he had erred in participating, after spending months telling Californians not to socialize beyond their own household - and even asking people to wear masks "between bites" while dining out. While Newsom and Kinney's lobbying firm have said the meal abided by public health rules, it has struck a chord with Californians who have assailed the upscale soiree as hypocritical as coronavirus cases surge.

Hoyer on Trump election challenges: 'I think this borders on treason'
Typically, a state certifies a Republican or Democratic slate of electors based on which candidate won the popular vote. Academics have sketched out several scenarios of what could happen next, though it's unchartered territory.

Gavin Newsom apologized for making a "bad mistake" in attending a large dinner party while restricting such gatherings for the rest of the state, but newly-discovered photographs suggest his initial explanation of the scandal still failed to take responsibility for the full extent of his hypocrisy. "And we hope and expect people to take them seriously". "I need to preach and practice, not just preach". Why isn't he wearing a mask while chewing his food in between bites like he tells us to do?

"Those gatherings with the people we really want to hang out with - the pull to do that is so strong during a pandemic", she said, noting that cases of COVID-19 nationwide are spreading at private gatherings.

That urge to gather, she added, is something "we all have to resist at this time if we're going to keep ourselves safe through the winter holidays".
