ViacomCBS to rebrand CBS All Access streaming service as 'Paramount+'

Viacom-owned streaming service CBS All Access is becoming Paramount+, the company announced this morning. It later pushed that timeframe back to 2021, but continued to roll out new content.

"The Game" ran for 9 seasons on The CW and BET between 2006 and 2015 and starred Tia Mowry, Pooch Hall, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Brandy Norwood, Coby Bell, Hosea Chanchez and Brittany Daniel.

Domenic DiMeglio, EVP, head of operations and chief marketing officer for ViacomCBS Digital, said: "No other pure-play SVOD service offers championship-level live sports from the NFL to SEC football, to UEFA Champions League, March Madness, and the Masters". In July, All Access added more than 3,500 episodes from Viacom networks BET, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon and Smithsonian Channel, along with a smaller redesign that incorporates hubs for the Viacom networks.

Today, ViacomCBS notes that the new service Paramount+ will also feature an expanded array of originals.

The move comes as the company expands content on the platform to incorporate more from its cable properties following the merger of Viacom and CBS past year. But with its newly announced slate of original titles, Paramount+ may have an offer we can't refuse.

Other directors include Dave Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa, Carl Weathers, Peyton Reed, and Robert Rodriguez. After all, this is the way to mentally prepare for everything The Mandalorian Season 2 has in store.

It's gonna be a hell of a sell for ViacomCBS to convince people to subscribe to their newly rebranded Paramount+ (formerly CBS All Access). The series follows a young Marine recruited to befriend the daughter of a terrorist to bring the organization down from within.

The streaming service is also getting more content in coming months. "With Paramount Plus, we're excited to establish one global streaming brand in the broad-pay segment that will draw on the sheer breadth and depth of the ViacomCBS portfolio to offer an extraordinary collection of content for everyone to enjoy".

Paramount+, notably, is also the latest to embrace the plus sign (+) suffix as part of its branding, following the launch of newer streaming services like Disney+, Apple TV+, ESPN+, TiVo+, and just yesterday, the kids-focused media catalog, Amazon Kids+. According to the company's own internal survey, the Paramount name commands name recognition not just in the U.S., but across the globe.

Earlier this year, ViacomCBS said combined subscribers for CBS All Access and Showtime OTT platforms - which both started up in 2014 - totaled 13.5 million.

CBS All Access is trading in CBS for Paramount.
