University of MI among top public schools in latest U.S

This is the second year in a row NU has ranked in 9th place, and the third year the University landed in the top 10 since 2002. The category recognizes the top-ranked schools in the 2021 Best Colleges rankings that participate in federal initiatives helping veterans and active-duty service members pay for their degrees.

Offering one of the most competitive and affordable tuition rates in the country, UM ranks as a top Best Value School among public universities with other institutions such as the universities of North Carolina, Kansas and Georgia, among others.

Seaver College, the flagship college of Pepperdine's five schools and home to its residential undergraduate program in Malibu, advanced by two spots to number 18 in the "Best Undergraduate Teaching" ranking, which is determined by "an unusually strong commitment to undergraduate teaching" by faculty and survey responses of administrators-including college presidents, provosts, and admissions deans-at peer regional universities and colleges.

The pandemic did not impact the data that schools submitted, according to U.S. News, which is from fall 2019 and earlier.

The Carroll School of Management ranked 24th out of 511 schools in the "Best Undergraduate Business Programs", and placed 7th overall in Finance; 12th in Accounting; and 20th in Marketing. The data used in the 2021 rankings pertain to student and faculty cohorts that predate the pandemic. The University was ranked first in the "Senior Capstone" category, which considers the culminating academic projects or theses that undergraduates undertake.

Ranking factors for national universities included graduation and retention rates, academic reputation, class size index, student-to-faculty ratio, faculty compensation, percent of full-time faculty, acceptance rate, standardized test scores of the incoming class, financial resources per student, average alumni giving rate, total student loans of graduating class, and "social mobility" - measured in part by graduation rates of students who are Pell Grant recipients.
