South Dakota's attorney general kills pedestrian in Hyde County traffic crash

This follows the announcement on Sunday from state Governor Kristi Noem (R) that Ravnsborg was involved in a fatal crash on U.S. Highway 14 west of Highmore, South Dakota.

Saturday Ravnsborg reported that he hit a deer with his auto but that's definitely not what happened.

The DPS, which is investigating the incident, told the Sioux City Journal that a 55-year-old man named Joe Boever had died in the collision and that his body was not found until Sunday morning.

Nemec told ABC affiliate Dakota News Now he hasn't been contacted by the state and he believes it is being tight-lipped about the investigation. He released a second statement on Monday night detailing his account of the accident, saying it was necessary to dispel rumors.

He said he stopped and used the flashlight on his phone to look around his vehicle in the dark, but saw nothing other than damage to his auto and believed he had hit a large animal. The Department of Public Safety said the investigation is ongoing.

Oxford University and AstraZeneca resume COVID-19 vaccine trial
The voluntary pause was triggered on September 6 after a standard review identified an adverse reaction in one subject. AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford have not disclosed any medical information on the nature of the illness.

According to Daily Mail, Ravnsborg was coming back from a Republican fundraiser when he hit the man who has been identified as Joseph Boever. They both returned to the accident scene, where Volek said he would handle the investigation and asked Ravnborg to return to Pierre, according to Ravnsborg's statement.

Boever's family members said earlier Monday they felt frustrated and suspicious with the investigation, especially after investigators took almost 22 hours to allow them to identify Boever's body.

Boever's body was discovered the next day. Boever told his cousin that he struck the bale of hay after going off the road while reaching for tobacco.

The spokesman said that while Mr Ravnsborg did drink occasionally, he did not make a habit of drinking during Lincoln Day events, which he was attending the night of the incident. According to the Argus Leader, Ravnsborg has a history of speeding and other minor traffic violations.
