Ireland delays reopening of Dublin bars as COVID-19 case numbers climb

Tánaiste Leo Varadkar appealed directly to the people of Dublin to observe the restrictions, despite no large surge in the numbers of COVID-19 patients in hospitals or ICUs.

There have been 1,787 deaths from the coronavirus in Ireland, according to the latest health ministry figures.

Ireland has registered 48.5 cases per 100,000 people over the past 14 days, the 17th highest of 31 countries monitored by the European Union's independent European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, but the rate in Dublin is double that.

The five levels in the plan set out what's allowed in nearly every sector of life over the next nine months with one the least restrictive and five the most.

Following publication of the Government's Living with Covid plan, Dr Glynn says the advice remains the same.

The plan is expected to be announced at a press conference around midday with the Government also expected to inform the public about more restrictive measures coming into place in Dublin.

Arsenal captain Aubameyang announces new deal on live video
Runarsson, who now plies his trade in France, had a mixed season last term with Dijon, only making 11 Ligue 1 appearances. Aubameyang scored in Arsenal's victory at Fulham on Saturday, the first game of the new Premier League season.

Dubliners are also being "encouraged" to limit travel outside the county.

"The one exception is the "wet pubs" and that really is less about creating a level two and a half and more about recognising that we are now transitioning from one model to another and that NPHET's advice, given where Dublin is and given that nobody wants Dublin to move to Level 3, the advice is, just for the moment, just keep that as one".

Level one will be the most lenient - allowing up to 10 visitors from three households to a person's home - while level five would be a return to the nationwide lockdown imposed in March.

For example, weddings can have 100 people in attendance under level one, but just six people in levels four and five. "There's no regulation attached to it, but if possible, people should avoid travelling outside the county".

The government unveiled a new five-level system of COVID restrictions on Tuesday and said the whole country was now on the second lowest level.
