President Donald Trump will travel to California on Monday to be briefed about its devastating wildfires while Democratic rival Joe Biden plans a speech on the matter from DE, bringing climate change to the forefront of the presidential campaign.

MEDFORD, Ore. - Authorities say nearly all of the people listed as missing from a deadly wildfire in southern OR have been accounted for. The state police superintendent said the crisis demanded an urgent response that required a leadership change.

Trump has remained largely silent on the fires in the past few weeks.

Crews in California are now exhausted, with some battling fires for almost two months.

In California 16,000 firefighters are battling blazes which have killed 22 since mid-August.

They warned that the strong southerly winds and low humidity forecast for Monday could bring an elevated fire risk, and potentially have an impact on the North Complex Fire, which has scorched 106,000 hectares and is only 26% contained.

They left their small southern OR town of Talent last week when they saw a "big, huge flow of dark smoke coming up", then went past roadblocks Friday to pick through the charred ruins of their home.

But the Jackson County sheriff's office said late Saturday that four people had died in the blaze and that the number of missing was down to one.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation on Friday said in a statement that after investigating several reports that extremists were responsible for setting wildfires in OR, it found them to be untrue.

Standing amid ash and ruin on Friday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom said the historically devastating fires that have ravaged his state in recent years stand as a case study for the reality of the scientific warnings around climate change and blasted the "ideological BS" of those who would deny it.

The state of California, as well as several of its counties, relies on incarcerated men and women to assist with fire containment efforts. "This is the ideal storm", California Governor Gavin Newsom said. We saw very cold, hot temperatures.

She added: "This is a wake-up call for all of us that we've got to do everything in our power to tackle climate change".

Mourinho continued: "I didn't like my team - I believe until their goal the game was there". Our target is to go to every match, thinking and feeling that we go to win.

"When we have firefighters dying on the line and Washington refuses to help states and local governments who are the first responders, it's unconscionable", he said.

Jay Inslee, Governor of Washington, another Democrat, joined in the attack on the president, saying his state looked "apocalyptic".

Fighting climate change is a key, motivating issue for young people and progressive-leaning voters that Biden needs to turn out to vote in the November 3 election.

Trump addressed the fires during a Saturday campaign rally in Reno, Nevada - a city under a dense smoke advisory due to the nearby blazes.

But he insisted the blazes were "about forest management", which includes tree thinning and brush clearing.

Applegate says the fires are a "huge emotional toll" on the staff but they are balancing out the management of critical patients and making sure they can stay stable themselves.

What role is climate change playing?

The fires on the West Coast have been among the worst ever recorded.

That figure is around twice the yearly average in the earlier 10 years.

Preparations have been hampered by false online claims that "extremists" are intentionally setting fires in OR, which have been debunked by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

In addition, smoke from the fires has travelled across the northern border, far into the western Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan, as well as a chunk of northwestern Mexico, including Baja California.

In a rare sliver of good news, one believed fire victim in Butte County turned out to be a burned anatomical skeleton from a local classroom.
