Canelo Alvarez Sued Golden Boy Promotions/DAZN Tuesday

Middleweight world champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez has filed a 24-page lawsuit against Oscar De La Hoya, Golden Boy Promotions and broadcaster DAZN.

This after Alvarez filed suit in US District Court in Southern California to break his contract with Oscar De La Hoya's boxing promotion and DAZN. Particularly in the fact that, DAZN wanted him to fight what they referred to as "Premium Opponents" to justify the $35 million fight purse that he has, despite this not being a part of the contract.

Now boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez is entering a lawsuit with broadcast partner DAZN, over a lack of offering his contractual two fights a year.

Alvarez has been sidelined during the COVID-19 pandemic and last fought in November, stopping Sergey Kovalev in 11 rounds to win the WBO light heavyweight title. Obviously it would have been a massive thing to see him fight UFC fighters.

They are hoping for a top-level opponent for Alvarez this year and want the Gennady Golovkin trilogy fight signed off in the near future too.

What slowdown? Amazon seeks to hire 33000 people
Amazon has already hired more than 175,000 people to staff up during the pandemic to help meet surging demand for delivery. Department of Labor, said that Amazon is different from other companies in that it's thinking about its future workforce.

Reports have it that Alvarez is willing to take a pay cut but not to the level that DAZN wants. Fair enough. At issue is who constitutes a "premium" opponent.

Sportsmail understands that over recent weeks, a stand-off had developed with DAZN growing frustrated over Golden Boy's failure to secure what they considered to be a suitable opponent for their big-money star.

Now, the fight outside the ring has begun. "I'm told DAZN would consider (not joking) De La Hoya, Jorge Masvidal & Khabib "premium" foes even though Oscar is 47, not since '08 & other guys aren't boxers".

The court documents state that after the first of his 11 fights was completed, DAZN would pay Golden Boy Promotions $40m for each of the remaining 10 bouts and $35m would be passed on to the fighter on each occasion.

Therefore, some boxing fans wonder if given the really unusual and extremely hard situation in the world today, has Canelo been fair in suing Oscar and DAZN.?? De La Hoya's camp is countering that DAZN is exclusively to blame as it is the one trying to wiggle out of the contract, but Alvarez's camp is claiming that GBP has not made any alternative plan amid the impasse with DAZN. Alvarez is insisting that when he signed the deal in 2018, there was no mention of him taking on a premium or ordinary foe. So, now, this is his next blockbuster legal move to try to end his deal with Golden Boy and DAZN.
