Nathan Ake £40m bid accepted by

Manchester City are closing in on the signing of Nathan Ake after Bournemouth have accepted a bid worth £41 million for the defender, according to various reports.

The Citizens are likely to pick up the Bournemouth defender, after reportedly having a bid accepted by the Cherries.

Ake, 25, has been one of Bournemouth's star performers since making his loan move from Chelsea a permanent one in 2017.

With Aymeric Laporte missing most of the campaign due to a long-term injury, and John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi largely disappointing, City manager Pep Guardiola often deployed Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho at centre-back.

As revealed by Telegraph Sport, the Netherlands worldwide does not have a relegation clause in his contract and City are now on the brink of agreeing a fee with Bournemouth.

With Ake's transfer now on the verge of becoming reality, the big question will be which current defender he will be replacing for the start of next season.

USA to pull 12,000 troops out of Germany
Defense Secretary Mark Esper , pictured earlier this month, announced a drawdown of USA troops in Germany on Wednesday. But part of Germany's position as a central hub in the region will also be revoked as part of the Pentagon's plan.

This is certainly a statement of intent from City as they look to close the gap on title winners Liverpool ahead of the new season.

Holland worldwide Ake has been a standout performer at the Vitality Stadium since joining from Chelsea for a reported £20m in 2017.

City are in the market for a new winger following the departure of Leroy Sane to Bayern Munich.

Bournemouth has been relegated to the Championship this season.

It is understood the Premier League side have agreed a basic fee £20.9 with Valencia and talks over potential add-ons are continuing.

Netherlands worldwide Ake, 25, joined Bournemouth in 2017 for a club record fee and has made 121 appearances for the Cherries.
