Beyonce delights fans with stylized visual album 'Black Is King'

In the absence of much dialogue, it's the visuals that do much of the talking in "Black Is King". The visual comes from her new Black Is King release and features musicians Shatta Wale and Major Lazer. With Black Is King, her new visual album released exclusively on the platform, comes "a global sense of Blackness, within and beyond the USA", per NPR.

It may have been almost impossible to top the cinematography of "Lemonade" (2016) and "Homecoming" (2018), but the singer has matched - if not surpassed - them with "Black Is King". "The narrative unfolds through music videos, fashion, dance, attractive natural settings and raw talent". The deluxe edition also removes the multiple interludes featuring dialogue from "The Lion King". Other new additions to the album include a Melo-x remix of "Find Your Way Back".

The visual album is Written, directed and executive produced by Beyonce, Black Is King premiered worldwide via Disney+ about a year after the theatrical release of the Lion King remake, which Beyonce voiced Nala in.

The work is an ode to the black experience rife with vibrant imagery celebrating the African diaspora, an aesthetic exploration of black history, power and success that also references colonialism, economic disparity and racism.

Black is King, which reimagines the story of the The Lion King with a focus on a young boy, is meant to "shift the global perception of the word black", the singer said in a message marking its release.
