COVID Alert app is now available for download

The more people who download the app, the more effective it will be in stopping the spread of COVID-19.

Work on COVID Alert was initiated in Ontario by the Ontario Digital Service and volunteers at Shopify, and was the foundation of the work by the Government of Canada.

The app was developed in consultation with the privacy commissioners of Ontario and Canada, according to Ontario Premier Doug Ford.

"Based on our review of the app and acceptance of our recommendations, I am satisfied that there are strong measures built in to help protect individual privacy", Kosseim said.

Burke writes that 20 states and territories across the US are now "exploring" apps that make use of the ENS system, and that together those represent almost half (45%) of the overall American populace.

The app will provide information on steps the user can take to keep themselves and others safe. "Learn more about what to do next", reads the example of a push notification users would receive.

Manchester City close to snapping up star winger Ferran Torres
Manchester City have included hard to achieve performance-based add-ons in an agreement with Valencia for Ferran Torres . Despite Bournemouth's relegation to the Championship , Ake's reputation has soared since he left Chelsea in 2017.

"It doesn't collect your name, your address, your geolocation, or any other personal information", Trudeau said, adding he downloaded the app Friday morning. The more people who use it, the better it can trace, and therefore slow, the spread of the virus. The app will then send out notices to every phone that has been within two metres for at least 15 minutes of the phone of the person who tested positive over the previous 14 days if they, too, have downloaded the app.

COVID Alert is a key tool to strengthen Ontario's comprehensive case and contact management strategy, Protecting Ontarians through Enhanced Case and Contact Management.

"This app does not replace contact tracing - a critical public health function".

COVID Alert uses Bluetooth technology to register when devices with the app may come into proximity with one another, and works in the background of users' phones.

Users who download the province's COVID Alert app will receive notification if they have been in close proximity to other users who have tested positive for COVID-19. "Contact tracing will continue to be performed manually by local public health authorities", the government said in a statement.
