Tropical Storm Hanna moves toward Texas

Tropical Storm Hanna was expected to strengthen Friday as it moves toward the Texas coastline, threatening to bring heavy rain, rough waters and strong winds, all while another tropical storm continued to approach the Caribbean.

A westward west-northwestward motion with an increase in forward speed is expected through the weekend.

Tropical Storm Hanna formed in the Gulf of Mexico and is now heading toward southern Texas.

According to the Advisory from the US National Hurricane Centre summary at 8 am, "the government of Barbados has issued a Hurricane Watch for St Vincent and the Grenadines".

Maximum sustained winds are near 60 miles per hour (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Main impacts from the system heavy rain and potential flooding over parts of South Texas this weekend. "Landfall is expected near Corpus Christi Saturday morning, bringing strong winds and 3-5" of rain to coastal Texas.

A tropical storm warning stretched along the Texas coast on Friday, but a tropical storm watch has been dropped.

Tropical Storm Gonzalo is now packing winds at 65 miles per hour as it heads east toward the eastern Caribbean islands. Gonzalo is also expected to produce total rain accumulations of 1 to 2 inches in Trinidad and Tobago. On this track the center of Gonzalo is expected to pass near Saint Lucia on Saturday.
