Couple draw guns at crowd heading to St. Louis mayor's home

Activists were marching toward Krewson's house because she doxxed Black Lives Matter protesters on Friday during a Facebook Live event. "To the contrary, they were expecting and supportive of the message of the protesters".

Not only do peaceful protesters have to worry about police, they have to also be aware of violence from viliinates. "They were arming themselves about people with a really bad motive, a motive that runs afoul of the fundamental tenets of our country".

However, there were some who defended the couple and said protesters should not have entered their lawn.

The McCloskeys' home, which was featured in the local St. Louis Magazine after undergoing a renovation, was appraised at $1.15 million.

Police said the mob "forcefully" broke an iron gate "marked with "No Trespassing" and "Private Street" signs". And, according to the Daily Mail, one of Mr. McCloskey's clients is, ironically, a man who was a victim of police brutality.

They added that they are still investigating but labeled it a case of trespassing and assault by intimidation against the couple by protesters in the racially diverse crowd. No other police reports were filed that night, a department spokesperson told Fox News.

Mark McCloskey shared with KMOV a picture of the allegedly damaged gate.

Anders Walker, a professor at the St. Louis University School of Law, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the castle doctrine in the state allows the couple to defend their property on a private street. "There are no public sidewalks or public streets".

"I was terrified that we'd be murdered within seconds. We were all alone facing an angry mob".

About 300 protesters had gone through a gate into this closed-off community and were marching in front of the McCloskey home, which is pictured center.

The video of the couple holding up their guns has gone viral on social media, and in turn has been created into an internet meme. Patricia stood next to him with a handgun. The group of at least 500 people chanted, "Resign, Lyda! In fact, the agitators responsible for the trepidation were white", their lawyer, Albert Watkins, told news outlets.

The protesters were participating in a peaceful march to the home of Lyda Krewson, the Democratic mayor of St Louis, in order to demand her resignation after she released the names and identifying details of individuals who supported defunding the police.

The names and letters are considered public records, but Krewson's actions caused a heavy backlash.

There have been nationwide calls to defund the police following the death of George Floyd after white officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck. Floyd was pronounced dead May 25 after a white Minneapolis police officer pressed his knee on Floyd's neck for almost eight minutes.

One man fatally shot at Breonna Taylor protest in Kentucky
The Saturday night shooting was at least the second during almost a month of protests in Louisville over Taylor's death. He said the suspect had been repeatedly asked by other people in the park to leave due to his disruptive behavior.
