Pakistan can target England's 'fragile' top order, says Azhar Ali

The 18-strong squad is due to leave on Sunday and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief executive Wasim Khan said the left out players could rejoin if they later test negative for the disease.

Pakistan's tour to England will continue to go ahead as per schedule in July-August despite 10 players of the touring party tested positive for the novel coronavirus that continues to threaten the entire world.

"The England & Wales Cricket Board can confirm that the Pakistan men's cricket team will arrive in the United Kingdom on Sunday 28 June to start preparation for this summer's tour of England, which includes three Test matches and three Vitality IT20s".

Eighteen players which were tested negative for Covid-19 earlier in the initial test by the PCB have again tested negative in the retest which took place on Thursday.

Haider Ali, Haris Rauf, Kashif Bhatti and Imran Khan, along with masseur Malang Ali, all tested positive again, however. Former captain Mohammed Hafeez claimed he has tested negative, followed by another positive.

Ten players from Pakistan's squad will not travel to England for the upcoming series after testing positive for coronavirus for a second time, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Saturday. The rest of the players will join the squad later after returning two negative tests. Following the Covid positive test results, the board called upon fast bowler Musa Khan and Pakistan U-19 captain and wicketkeeper Rohail Nazir.

The 10 Pakistan players, including Mohammad Hafeez, who have tested positive for the coronavirus have been placed under home-quarantine and will not be part of the squad departing to the UK. Spinner Zafar Gohar, who is already in the United Kingdom, will join the squad but only for pre-series preparations.

Waseem said that bowling coach Waqar Younis underwent testing in Australia and has been diagnosed negative.

After their arrival to Manchester, the squad will be transported to Worcestershire where they will undergo testing.

The side will move to Derbyshire on July 13 to prepare for their three-Test and three T20 worldwide series against the home side in August-September.
