Liverpool condemns irresponsible behaviour of fans

Merseyside Police made 10 arrests for public order offences on Thursday night during the celebrations.

Merseyside Police Assistant Chief Constable Jon Roy said two officers needed medical treatment for injuries to their backs after bottles were thrown as they went to help an assault victim in a crowd of supporters on Friday.

"Several thousand people turned up at the Pier Head on Friday June 26 and some chose to ignore the social distancing guidance and risk public safety".

Both are due to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Monday.

There were fireworks displayed at the iconic Liver Building as fans got together in thousands without observing social-distancing rules while celebrating.

Matthew Egglesden, 19, of Turning Lane, Scarisbrick, has been charged with causing criminal damage and launching fireworks in a public place.

All persons arrested for the violent disorder have been bailed whilst investigations continue.

He said: "Last night, children and families were present alongside others and heavy-handed police intervention was therefore not appropriate at the time". This is not acceptable.

'In the coming days we will be reviewing CCTV and Body Worn Camera footage to identify those involved in criminal and anti social behaviour and we will be issuing images through the media to find those responsible.

Iran issues arrest warrant for Trump over killing of top general
Mr Al Qasi Mehr said Mr Trump was responsible for the "terrorist act" and topped the list of those responsible. In his respond, Trump warned Tehran that the US will target 52 Iranian sites if Iran attacks Americans.

Liverpool FC gave a joint statement with police and Liverpool City Council, condemning the violent scenes as "wholly inappropriate".

On Friday night, Merseyside Police issued a dispersal order for Liverpool city center.

It was also stressed that "the potential danger of a second peak of Covid-19 still exists and we need to work together to make sure we don't undo everything that has been achieved as a region". On Thursday, when they gathered outside Anfield, you could argue that the passion was there and we had to accept that was inevitable.

The statement added: "We all understand that fans want to celebrate, but now is not the time". He said a group of about 100 people threw glasses and bottles at riot police as they tried to stop them committing acts of disorder in the city centre.

Mayor Joe Anderson took to to social media to reiterate that the spread of coronavirus was "still a real risk".

"But for now, please stay at home as much as possible", he wrote.

More than 1,500 people have died after contracting COVID-19 in the Liverpool region since March.

"Please - celebrate - but celebrate in a safe way and in private settings, whereby we do not risk spreading this terrible disease further in our community". We do not have the power to do this. The pics showing peoples behaviour is being talked about instead of the fantastic achievement of LFC.
