Global COVID-19 cases top 10 million

Meanwhile, fears of a new rise in coronavirus cases have grown in recent weeks after massive protests against racism and police brutality swept across the U.S. and several other Western countries, during which, in many cases, participants flouted social distancing rules.

On Saturday, Florida reported more than 9500 new cases, up from nearly 9000 on Friday, the previous record.

While the USA accounts for around one quarter of global deaths - 125,539 out of 499,124 worldwide - and has by far the highest death toll, the epicentre of the disease is now Latin America.

In Texas - a growing epicentre that reported 5,747 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, just shy of its record 5,996 single-day increase reported on June 25, Gov. Greg Abbot said he reopened bars too soon, ordered them to close, and reduced restaurant capacity to 50 percent.

More than 25 percent of the global cases come from the United States, according to the Johns Hopkins Data, as there have been at least 2,530,587 cases confirmed as of Saturday.

Brazil, where coronavirus infections were still on the rise, ranked No. 2 behind the U.S.in both confirmed cases and total deaths, with 1.3 million infections and over 57,000 deaths.

Interpol says no red notice for Donald Trump after Iran request
Alqasimehr stressed that Iran would continue to pursue Trump's prosecution even after his presidency ends. Recall that the USA military killed Soleimani in an air strike outside Baghdad worldwide airport.

India set a daily record on Saturday with more than 18,500 new cases and 385 deaths, bringing its total of registered cases to 500,000.

Analyses by ABC News and others show the number of cases is sharply on the rise in 31 states, especially in Florida, Texas, California and Arizona.

Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey and NY are the only four states in the nation that are on track to contain COVID-19, according to data analyzed by Covid Act Now. "If we want to end this, we've got to realize we are part of the process".

While the increase in reported cases is believed to reflect, in part, greatly expanded testing, experts say there is ample evidence the virus is making a comeback, including rising deaths and hospitalizations in parts of the country and higher percentages of tests coming back positive for the virus.

"CDC has removed the specific age threshold from the older adult classification".

Republicans, like President Trump who won't wear one in public, have politicized their existence.
