Cuomo accused of hypocrisy over strict quarantine on visitors from other states

'If we are going to maintain the progress we've seen, we need everyone to take personal responsibility, Cuomo said in a statement, Business Insider reports.

The state says this new executive order mirrors the law's existing provision that makes New Yorkers ineligible for paid sick leave if they travel to any country designated as having a level two or three travel health notice from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. On Saturday, less than 1% of tests administered came back positive.

The order, signed by Cuomo on Friday, stipulates that state employees who voluntarily travel to states with an infection rate of 10 percent or more will lose their paid sick leave benefits.

The state saw 616 additional coronavirus cases, bringing the statewide total to 392,539.

The United States has more cases than any other country at almost 2.6 million, according to a live tracker of the virus by Johns Hopkins University.

"Probability is they are gonna increase the spread in NY", he said.

Under the plan, with 100 or more employees are required to provide at least 14 days of paid sick leave and guarantee job protection for the duration of the state's quarantine order.
