Barista $78K Richer After Refusing to Serve Woman

Men and women with medical conditions who are unable to wear masks are exempt from carrying a confront covering.

The post, however, backfired and enormous support poured in for Gutierrez for having stood his ground. The post has been shared by tens of thousands of people.

The GoFundMe has raised just over $21,000 because it was initially posted on Tuesday.

A Starbucks barista is set to be rewarded with more than $58k (around €52k) in tips after a customer tried to shame him for refusing to serve her because she was not wearing a face mask.

After assuming to be humiliated on Facebook, Lenin Gutierrez- the barista that served "Karen"- was shocked when his GoFundMe page reached its quota $20,000 for just a couple of days. "Next time I will wait for cops and bring a medical exemption", Amber Lynn Gilles wrote in a Facebook post that's been shared 46,000 times.

Many people expressed their support for Gutierrez in comments about Gilles' post, with some saying they wanted to visit the cafe to give him some special advice.

Despite the criticism heaped on her, Gilles doubled down.

"Masks are stupid and so are the people wearing them", said Gilles in a comment to her original post.

As of May 1, San Diego County has required residents to wear face coverings in most public settings, including when picking up food at a restaurant. The coronavirus primarily spreads via droplets when an infected person coughs, speaks, or sneezes, and research has found that masks help to curb the spread of the disease. He also wants to donate to some businesses in the San Diego group.

PA President Mahmoud Abbas heads a leadership meeting at his headquarters, in the West Bank city of Ramallah, May 19, 2020. One missile landed on open ground, the other probably in the Gaza Strip itself, the report said.

As of Thursday, 196,046 people in California had tested positive for COVID-19 and 5,726 had died, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

A team of researchers calculated that wearing face masks prevented more than 78,000 infections in Italy between April 6 and May 9, and more than 66,000 infections in New York City between April 17 and May 9. Cowan, who has said he doesn't know the Starbucks employee, wrote on the fundraiser page it was "raising money for Gutierrez for his honorable effort standing his ground when faced with a Karen in the wild".

"Everybody is rallying around somebody for doing what they're supposed to do and trying to protect everyone else", he told KGTV.

"People don't ask you to do much, they ask you to wear a mask for your own safety and the safety of others", Cowan told CNN.

"It's been so helpful and so shocking to see something get so big that only happened within a few minutes", the barista said.

Gilles, for her part, has commented repeatedly on Facebook that she's not backing down from her anti-mask stance.

'I want to remind everybody to be kind to one another and to love each other and always keep in mind to wear a mask, ' he said in a video.

Gutierrez said that after a while Gilles returned to take a snap of his face and also asked his name.

"She started calling people sheep and she left".
