Treasure County reports 1st 2 COVID-19 cases

A reminder from officials at the ADPH: COVID-19 can be a deadly disease for anyone and measures to reduce the risk of transmission should continue.

There is now one active COVID-19 case in Bureau County and two active cases in Marshall County, according to Laurie Geuther, communicable disease nurse for Bureau, Putnam and Marshall County Health Department.

The total number of cases in Palm Beach County has now reached 11,523 and 174 cases have been reported in Monroe County. Federal privacy restrictions prohibit the release of any additional information regarding this case.

The number of active cases is still setting daily records with 349 as of Thursday. The 60135 ZIP code (including Genoa) had 39 cases and 544 tests, the 60145 ZIP code (including Kingston) had seven cases and 127 tests, and the 60146 ZIP code (including Kirkland) had nine cases and 187 tests.

The number of deaths by age groups are as follows: 80-89 (29), 70-79 (28), 90-99 (15), 60-69 (14), 50-59 (7), 40-49 (1) and 99-and-older (1).

Police have recently fielded more complaints about illegal fireworks in the last week as Fourth of July celebrations approach. Some have been suspicious of the increase , suggesting without evidence that they're part of a government plot.

The latest data from Sedgwick County Thursday shows a continued increase in the testing rate, but also continuation of a recent upward trend in the percentage of positive cases.
